Biletskyi awarded title of Hero of Ukraine, nine other military personnel receive general ranks
President Volodymyr Zelenskyi awarded the commander of the 3rd Army Corps Andriy Biletskyi the title of Hero of Ukraine with the order "Gold Star". By separate decrees, the head of state also awarded new general ranks to nine military personnel and heads of security agencies.
The relevant decrees were signed by the President on August 24, on Ukraine's Independence Day.
Andriy Biletskyi was awarded "for personal courage and heroism displayed in protecting the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, selfless service to the Ukrainian people".
Biletskyi has the rank of Brigadier General and commands the 3rd Army Corps of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Previously, he commanded the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, on the basis of which the corps was formed, and in 2014 he was the first commander of the "Azov" battalion.
In addition, Zelenskyi signed nine separate decrees on awarding military ranks. New general ranks were awarded to:
- Vadym Hladkov, First Deputy Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine - Major General;
- Oleksii Khalabuda, Chief of Staff - Deputy Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - Brigadier General;
- Serhii Hunkovskyi, Head of the Counterintelligence Department of the SSU - Brigadier General;
- Valerii Skred, Commander of the 19th Army Corps - Brigadier General;
- Oleh Honcharuk, Chief of Staff - Deputy Commander of the Operational Command "South" - Brigadier General;
- Mark Andrusiak, Director of the Personnel Policy Department of the Ministry of Defence - Brigadier General;
- Valerii Novak, Director of the Critical Infrastructure Protection Department of the State Special Communications Service - Brigadier General;
- Oleksandr Pikhota, one of the heads of the Main Directorate of the SSU in Donetsk and Luhansk regions - Brigadier General;
- Rostyslav Syvovol, Head of the Internal and Own Security Department of the State Border Guard Service - Brigadier General.
Thus, in the package of decrees of August 24, one of the highest state awards was given to the commander of the 3rd Army Corps, and general ranks were awarded to representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the SSU, the State Border Guard Service, the State Special Communications Service, and the Ministry of Defence.
