The Kremlin threatened to strike SCALP missile production facilities in Ukraine after Britain's decision

The Kremlin sharply reacted to the United Kingdom's decision to allow the transfer of classified data on British components of SCALP missiles, necessary for establishing their assembly in Ukraine. The spokesman for the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, stated that Russian forces will attempt to locate the production sites of such missiles and destroy them.

According to Peskov, the Kremlin assesses London's decision "extremely negatively".

"Our armed forces are carrying out relevant work, receiving relevant data to determine the locations of production of such missiles and of other military equipment, and are taking measures to destroy those sites," - he stated.

Peskov also accused the United Kingdom of direct participation in the war on Ukraine's side.

"Britain is participating in this war. Participating in this war on the side of the Kyiv regime", - said the Kremlin representative.

According to him, London "methodically and regularly adds fuel to the fire" and allegedly obstructs a peaceful resolution of the war.

The Kremlin's reaction came after the British government allowed the defense company MBDA to disclose classified information about the British components of the long-range SCALP missile. These data are needed by Ukraine and France to advance plans for establishing local assembly lines for the missiles in Ukraine.

The British government clarified that this pertains specifically to classified information about British components. SCALP is the French version of the British Storm Shadow, and both missiles use shared French and British technologies.

London's decision would allow France and Ukraine to move to the next stage of organizing SCALP assembly on Ukrainian territory. The British side has not announced the transfer of the full production cycle of the missile to Ukraine.

UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, who is in Kyiv on 24 August, said that Russian threats only strengthen London's resolve to support Ukraine. According to him, the United Kingdom will not retreat until a just and lasting peace is achieved.
