Zelensky: Kremlin rejected Ukraine's proposal for a 'grain truce'

Ukraine proposed that Russia stop attacks on vessels carrying agricultural products through the Black Sea, but Moscow did not agree to such an arrangement. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to him, the Russian side links the security of the Ukrainian grain corridor with a cessation of strikes on Russia's energy infrastructure.

"It seems their position is that they will not attack our grain corridor only if we stop attacking their energy sector", - said Zelensky.

The President noted that Ukraine is ready to discuss mutual cessation of strikes on energy, but the agreements must operate on equal terms for both sides.

"If you are ready to talk on equal terms, then let's talk. If it's about agriculture - then agriculture, if about energy - then energy. If about a full ceasefire - then a full ceasefire", - he emphasized.

Zelensky also said that he proposed to several foreign leaders to involve ships from their countries for transporting both Ukrainian and Russian agricultural products. At the same time, according to him, Russia is not currently ready for such a variant.

The situation in the Black Sea has escalated against the background of mutual strikes on port infrastructure and commercial vessels. Greater Odesa provides about 90% of the sea export of Ukrainian grain, and the latest attacks have significantly reduced the possibilities of shipments.
