NBU is holding back the dollar with interventions, the cash rate has gone down

On the interbank currency market on Tuesday, August 25, there is a balance of supply and demand. Trading is conducted in a narrow range of 44.66-44.70 UAH.

The National Bank is very cautiously but firmly managing the currency market, appearing at the right moment with an intervention and not allowing quotes to rise even by a few kopecks. According to the "Kurs Ukrainy" portal, just yesterday the regulator sold about 258 million dollars through currency interventions, which led to the strengthening of the hryvnia by several kopecks.

The euro on the interbank currency market of Ukraine on Tuesday is trading in the range of 51.99-52.13 UAH on the "bid" position, which is noticeably lower than on Monday. On FOREX, the euro continues to slowly correct against the dollar after the surge last week and has already dropped to 1.1651 dollars.

Cash dollar prices have declined somewhat. If on Monday afternoon wholesale exchange offices in Kyiv sold the dollar at 44.83-44.84 UAH, today – at 44.79-44.80 UAH. In Kharkiv, the dollar is sold at 44.83 UAH, in Mykolaiv and Poltava – at 44.85 UAH, in Odesa – at 44.90 UAH.

By 1:00 PM, Ukrainian banks were selling the dollar at prices from 44.75 UAH in some branches of Bank Lviv on the right-bank Ukraine to 45.10 UAH in Zaporizhzhia's Metbank. As for the euro, at the moment it can be purchased cheapest at 52.07 UAH also in some branches of Bank Lviv.

Oil prices have been falling for the third consecutive day after a sharp rise last week. The price of the popular Brent grade today dropped to $87.68 per barrel and at the time of writing is trading in the range of $87.70-88.00 per barrel.

On crypto exchanges, the rise in prices for major cryptocurrencies has resumed. Thus, bitcoin (BTC) on the popular crypto exchange Binance this morning reached the mark of $81272 per coin, after which it began to be sold, and it dropped to $79200. As for Ethereum (ETH), its price this morning reached $2535.50 per coin. Currently, Ethereum is being sold at $2460-2480 per coin.
