Russia attacks postal logistics again: Ukrposhta facilities hit in two cities

Russian forces twice attacked Ukrposhta infrastructure in Mena, Chernihiv Oblast, damaging a branch and the base for mobile post office vehicles that serve villages in the district. Another branch of the company was hit in Kramatorsk on August 25.

The consequences of the attacks were reported by Ukrposhta CEO Igor Smelyansky.

According to him, in Mena, a stationary post office branch and the base for mobile post office vehicles came under attack. These are the vehicles that provide postal services to small settlements in the district where there are no permanent stationary branches.

The post office building sustained significant damage. However, there were no injuries or fatalities among Ukrposhta employees.

After the first strike, the branch manager, together with police and rescuers, arrived at the scene to retrieve and secure valuables. Rescuers and the company's regional team are still working there.

Branch will be relocated, lost parcels will be compensated

Ukrposhta is already developing a plan to place employees and resume work at another location. The company plans to reopen the branch as soon as possible to maintain postal services for the town and surrounding settlements.

The company promised to compensate customers whose parcels were damaged or lost as a result of the Russian strike.

Thus, the consequences of the attack concern not only one stationary branch: the damage to the vehicle base creates additional problems for the mobile postal network that serves rural settlements in the district.

Another branch attacked in Kramatorsk

On the same day, Smelyansky reported another Russian strike—on a Ukrposhta branch in Kramatorsk.

The company had closed this facility in advance due to the security situation, so during the attack there were no employees or customers inside. There were no casualties.

Ukrposhta is already preparing to repair and restore the damaged branch.

Russian forces regularly attack postal and logistics infrastructure in Ukraine. In early August, a Ukrposhta depot in Pavlohrad was destroyed, which also housed mobile branches. At that time, the company was forced to reorganize logistics and switch deliveries to reserve routes.
