Border crossing point with Moldova modernized

In Chernivtsi region, comprehensive renovation of the international automobile border crossing point "Kelmentsi - Larga" on the border with Moldova has been completed.

During modernization, new modular premises for border and customs services were installed. Previously, employees used metal containers that did not meet modern requirements.

Also, the road surface and canopies were repaired at the crossing point, a sanitary zone, autonomous sewage system and water supply system were arranged.

According to First Deputy Minister of Restoration, Infrastructure and Transport Serhiy Derkach, modular solutions allow faster renewal of border infrastructure without lengthy capital construction. By this principle, more than 10 crossing points are currently being modernized.

During the inspection of "Kelmentsi - Larga", security issues were also raised. Relevant services were instructed to work out options for shelter arrangement and strengthening the protection of people on the territory of the point.

The ministry did not report the cost of the work performed, nor whether the throughput capacity of the point changed after modernization.
