YouTube launches cheaper Premium Lite subscription in Ukraine
YouTube has started rolling out a cheaper Premium Lite tariff in Ukraine. The subscription has already appeared in the mobile app on iPhone, while the web version on desktop does not yet offer the new tariff.
In the app, YouTube Premium Lite costs $2.99 per month - about 130 UAH. New users also get a one-month free trial.
Meanwhile, on the desktop Premium signup page as of August 26, only the regular plans are shown: individual for 179 UAH per month, family for 299 UAH, and student for 109 UAH. Premium Lite is not yet among the available options there.

Premium Lite is a simplified and cheaper alternative to full YouTube Premium. Subscribers can watch most non-music videos without ads, download them for offline viewing, and use background play.
However, the plan has several limitations. Ads may remain in music videos, Shorts, search results, and on the home page. Background play and downloads also do not apply to Shorts and most music content. YouTube Music Premium is not included in the package.
Previously, YouTube announced a global expansion of Premium Lite to all markets where regular Premium operates. At that time, the cheaper tariff was not yet available in Ukraine. Later, the company also significantly raised the cost of the standard Premium subscription for Ukrainian users.
The appearance of Premium Lite in the mobile app indicates that the service has already begun a phased rollout of the new tariff in Ukraine. Availability may vary depending on the platform and account.
