Russia claims strikes on oil refinery, ports, industry: Ukraine confirms part of damage (Updated)
During a massive attack on the night of August 27, Russia struck industrial enterprises, warehouse, energy and other infrastructure in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava and Odesa regions. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have hit a number of specific industrial, logistics and port facilities. Ukrainian authorities confirmed damage to some facilities in the same areas, but did not confirm Russia's claims about their military purpose.
Kyiv and region: warehouse infrastructure under attack
The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that in Kyiv and the region the targets were allegedly a drone assembly shop, as well as two transport and logistics complexes.
The Russian ministry named one of them as the "San Park" office and warehouse complex in Kyiv, claiming it was used for storing FPV drones, ground control stations and components. Another declared target was the "Aleksandrivskyi" office and logistics complex in Boryspil, which Russia called a storage site for drone components.
The Ukrainian side did not confirm these claims about the purpose of the facilities. At the same time, the Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported a fire at warehouse premises in Boryspil district and damage to warehouse facilities in Fastiv district.
Private houses in Brovary and Vyshhorod districts were also damaged. Local Telegram channels reported that the attacked warehouse facilities might have included those of Rozetka and Fozzy Group, but there was no official confirmation of this information.
In Kyiv itself, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, a building of one of the gymnasiums in Shevchenkivskyi district was significantly damaged. The blast wave also blew out windows in one of the municipal medical facilities, and in Podilskyi district debris fell in a courtyard between residential buildings.
Kryvyi Rih attacked with two ballistic missiles
The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed strikes on metallurgical enterprises in Kryvyi Rih and Zaporizhzhia, calling them suppliers of products for military production.
The Ukrainian side confirmed a strike on an industrial enterprise in Kryvyi Rih, but did not report that it was specifically a metallurgical plant or a military facility.
According to local authorities, Kryvyi Rih was hit by two ballistic missiles. As a result of the attack on the enterprise, three people were injured.
Industrial enterprises attacked in Poltava region
Another declared target by Russia was the Kremenchuk oil refinery. The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that the facility was used to supply fuel to the Ukrainian military and to transship imported petroleum products.
The Poltava Regional Military Administration did not name specific enterprises, but confirmed that overnight Russia attacked industrial facilities in Kremenchuk district.
In addition, an energy facility in Myrhorod district was struck. Due to the attack, an emergency power outage occurred, as a result of which consumers in seven settlements were temporarily left without electricity.
Emergency services have begun to deal with the consequences. No reports of casualties in Poltava region were received by emergency services.
Russia claims strikes on ports in Odesa region
The Russian Ministry of Defense also claimed a series of strikes on Odesa region. The Russian ministry claims that facilities in Chornomorsk related to the assembly of drones and the production of saltpeter were attacked.
In addition, Russia claimed to have hit 24 storage facilities at the ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk, which, according to its version, were used for storing military property. In the port of Reni, the Russian ministry claimed strikes on infrastructure for transshipment of cargo and fuel. Energy facilities in the region were also named among the targets.
Ukrainian authorities did not confirm the military purpose of these facilities. According to the Odesa Regional Military Administration, the region was under a massive combined attack for more than seven hours.
As a result of the strikes, a 16-story residential building, two educational institutions and a private house were damaged. Destruction was also recorded at infrastructure facilities, the territory of an elevator, garages and among local residents' cars.
The number of injured in Odesa region has risen to three.
Critical infrastructure in several other regions was under attack
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russian troops also struck critical infrastructure in Poltava, Sumy and Kherson regions.
Residential buildings were attacked in Kharkiv region. In Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, a Russian guided aerial bomb hit a multi-story building.
Thus, Ukrainian reports partially coincide with the statements of the Russian Ministry of Defense regarding the geography of the strikes and the fact of damage to industrial, warehouse, energy and transport facilities. At the same time, the Russian ministry's claims about the specific military purpose of these enterprises and warehouses were not confirmed by the Ukrainian side.
