Russia continued strikes on civilian and warehouse infrastructure in Kyiv region, dozens of facilities damaged
Russian troops are attacking Kyiv region for the second day in a row. As of the morning of August 28, 14 warehouse premises, enterprises, dozens of residential buildings and vehicles have been damaged in the region. The day before, the logistics infrastructure of four major Ukrainian companies came under attack.
The head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko, reported on the new consequences of the attacks.
According to him, damage has so far been recorded in Fastiv, Boryspil, Vyshhorod, Brovary and Bucha districts.
In total, 14 warehouse premises, 16 private households, three apartment buildings and 16 vehicles have been damaged. Enterprises also suffered damage.
Emergency and municipal services are working on the ground, recording the consequences of the strikes and providing assistance to residents. Meanwhile, the attack on the region continues.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the night strikes on August 28 were aimed at logistics facilities in Ukraine that were allegedly used in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Russian department claims that in Kyiv region they attacked the warehouse complex of "Stellar Jet" LLC, where components for long-range "Flamingo" missiles and fuel for rocket boosters were supposedly stored. The Ukrainian side has not confirmed these claims, and the Russian side has not provided independent evidence.
Kyiv region under attack for second day
Intense strikes on the region began on the night of August 27. After the first nighttime attack, Kyiv region was subjected to 28 more Russian attacks throughout the day.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, on August 27, air raid sirens were sounded in the region 11 times, lasting a total of over 14 hours. Particular danger came from repeated strikes on places where rescuers were already dealing with the consequences of previous attacks.
During the day, the State Emergency Service recorded 13 such repeated strikes. Due to the new threat, rescuers had to stop extinguishing fires, retreat to a safe distance and return to work after the danger had passed.
As of the evening of August 27, large fires in warehouse buildings continued to be extinguished at three locations simultaneously.
Logistics of major companies targeted
The attacks on August 27 caused significant damage to the logistics infrastructure of Ukrainian businesses. "Budynok Igrashok", "Fora", Comfy and Roshen reported the loss or damage of warehouse and distribution facilities.
"Budynok Igrashok" lost its distribution center, from which orders were sent to customers throughout Ukraine every day. Due to its destruction, the company warned of possible delays for some already placed online orders.
"Fora" reported damage to a warehouse in Kyiv region, which the chain had begun using only a few days before the attack. This was already the third strike on logistics infrastructure used by the company during August. Preliminary estimated losses from the two previous attacks alone exceeded 1.25 billion UAH.
A Russian drone also hit a distribution center of Comfy in Kyiv region. The company reported that none of its employees were injured.
Roshen lost a finished goods warehouse in Chubynske, from where products were supplied to partners and retail chains. The company began redistributing stocks and engaging alternative warehouse capacities.
Employees of all four companies remained unharmed during the attacks on August 27.
On the night of August 28, a sorting facility of "Nova Poshta" in Sviatopetrivske, Bucha district, also came under attack. The company reported the destruction of the sorting depot, with all employees surviving.
Thus, over the course of two days, Russian strikes on Kyiv region not only damaged the housing stock but also affected a significant number of warehouse, logistics and other business facilities in the region.
