At the end of the work week, fuel prices in Ukraine are moving in different directions. On August 28, the average cost of gasoline and diesel decreased, while autogas became more expensive. Compared to the start of the week, premium A-95 is more expensive, while regular gasoline and diesel are slightly cheaper. Meanwhile, most major chains did not change their main price tags, and the most noticeable adjustments occurred at individual operators.

This is evidenced by data from the Consulting Group "A-95"

How much fuel costs on August 28

The average cost of premium gasoline A-95+ on Friday is 83.62 UAH/L. Over the day, it decreased by 2 kopecks.

Regular A-95 costs on average 79.91 UAH/L, A-92 – 76.88 UAH/L. Both types of gasoline lost 7 kopecks over the last day.

On August 28, diesel fuel decreased the most in absolute terms – by 17 kopecks, to 91.66 UAH/L.

Autogas, on the contrary, added 14 kopecks and on average costs 43.03 UAH/L.

Fuel type Price on August 28, UAH/L Change per day
A-95+ 83.62 -0.02
A-95 79.91 -0.07
A-92 76.88 -0.07
Diesel fuel 91.66 -0.17
Autogas 43.03 +0.14

How prices changed since the beginning of the week

Comparison with Monday, August 24, shows that there was no single trend on the fuel market this week.

Among gasoline, the average price of premium A-95+ changed most noticeably: over five days it increased from 83.09 to 83.62 UAH/L, i.e., by 53 kopecks.

At the same time, mass A-95 decreased by 14 kopecks during this period – from 80.05 to 79.91 UAH/L. The average price of A-92 decreased by 7 kopecks – to 76.88 UAH/L.

Diesel ended the week below Monday's level by 24 kopecks: 91.66 UAH/L vs. 91.90 UAH/L at the beginning of the week.

Fuel type August 24, UAH/L August 28, UAH/L Change per week
A-95+ 83.09 83.62 +0.53
A-95 80.05 79.91 -0.14
A-92 76.95 76.88 -0.07
Diesel fuel 91.90 91.66 -0.24
Autogas 43.73 43.03 -0.70

According to the published average indicators, autogas decreased by 70 kopecks since the beginning of the week. However, this dynamic should be assessed more cautiously. In the data for August 25, there was an anomalous gas price indicator in the Donetsk region, and the next day the corresponding line was no longer in the sample. Therefore, part of the change in the nationwide average could be related not to actual resetting of price tags, but to a change in the data set.

What happened at major chains

At the largest national operators, the week was much calmer than might seem from the dynamics of average prices.

OKKO kept the prices for A-95+, A-95, and diesel from Monday at 85.90, 82.90, and 93.90 UAH/L, respectively. However, on August 28, the network raised the price of autogas immediately by 1 UAH – to 44.90 UAH/L.

WOG left the main price tags unchanged during the week: A-95+ costs 85.90 UAH/L, A-95 – 82.90 UAH/L, diesel – 93.90 UAH/L, gas – 44.50 UAH/L.

The most noticeable change among large operators this week was conducted by UKRNAFTA. Already on August 25, the network raised premium gasoline immediately by 3 UAH – to 81.90 UAH/L. Other main items until the end of the week remained at 78.90 UAH/L for A-95, 89.90 UAH/L for diesel, and 42.90 UAH/L for gas.

At UPG, the movement was short-term: on August 25, diesel went up by 1 UAH, but the next day the network returned the previous price. As a result, Friday the operator greeted with the same 89.90 UAH/L as at the beginning of the week.

More noticeably, prices were adjusted downward by "BRSM-Nafta". Since Monday, its average price of A-95 decreased by 28 kopecks – to 77.76 UAH/L, and diesel – by 84 kopecks, to 88.90 UAH/L. Autogas, however, became more expensive by 12 kopecks and costs 41.46 UAH/L.

At AMIC, diesel decreased by about 21 kopecks over the week – to 89.95 UAH/L, while the price of regular A-95 actually did not change and is 78.96 UAH/L.

KLO maintained stable prices during the week: 84.30 UAH/L for A-95+, 79.90 UAH/L for A-95, 93.90 UAH/L for diesel, and 43.50 UAH/L for autogas.

A week without massive price increases

In summary, from August 24 to 28, the largest networks did not conduct a synchronous revision of prices for gasoline and diesel. The main movement occurred in a targeted manner: UKRNAFTA sharply raised premium gasoline, UPG first raised, then returned the diesel price back, "BRSM-Nafta" gradually lowered gasoline and diesel, and OKKO at the end of the week raised autogas.

Average country-wide indicators also indicate rather a redistribution of prices within the market than a general increase in price: regular gasoline and diesel end the week slightly cheaper than they started, while premium A-95+ is more expensive.
