Russia has increased the use of jet drones fivefold - Air Force

In July, Russia used five times more jet drones for strikes on Ukraine than in June, which happened as a result of Russia's change in drone attack tactics and the use of more jet UAVs, which are harder to shoot down. This was stated by the spokesman of the Air Force Yuriy Ihnat in the broadcast of the telethon "Yedyni Novyny", according to Українська правда.

"The enemy has changed the tactics of use. Not so much the tactics as the means. That is, it has significantly increased the number of jet (drones – ed.) This happened... in July. In July, we had five times more jet UAVs used than in June. That is, this is the month when the buildup of these UAVs, as well as "Banderoli", significantly increased."

 In total, over the last four days, Russia has launched more than 1,500 UAVs over Ukraine, as Ihnat reported. Of these, 800, i.e. the majority, were jet-propelled.

According to Ihnat, with this change in tactics, the Russians responded to the high rates of shooting down of "Shaheds" with conventional gasoline engines by the Defense Forces.

"Of course, they did not start using those jet UAVs yesterday, but now they have increased them, realizing that it is impossible to shoot them down using classic methods, such as those we already have against conventional UAVs", – the spokesman noted.

He added that currently the percentage of downing jet UAVs is lower than that of classic drones, 88-90% of which the Defense Forces manage to shoot down.

As Ihnat explains, for successful interception of jet drones it is necessary to use ground-based air defense, aviation systems and platforms, fighter jets with "air-to-air" class missiles, etc.
