Ukraine's IT exports grow again, but their share declines
Exports of computer services from Ukraine in July 2026 rose to $567 million. This is higher compared to both the previous month and July of last year. At the same time, the share of IT in total service exports continued to decline because other segments of the services sector grew faster in July.
This is evidenced by the monthly foreign trade statistics of the National Bank of Ukraine. In the NBU statistics, the category "computer services" serves as the indicator of IT exports.
IT exports rose both month-on-month and year-on-year
In July, Ukraine received $567 million from exports of computer services. In June, the figure was $561 million. Thus, foreign exchange earnings increased by $6 million, or 1.1%, over the month.
Year-on-year, the dynamics also remain positive. In July 2025, exports of computer services amounted to $555 million. Accordingly, they grew by $12 million, or 2.2%, over the year.
| Indicator | July 2025 | June 2026 | July 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exports of computer services | $555 million | $561 million | $567 million |
| Share in service exports | about 41.1% | about 40.3% | 38.6% |
In seven months, IT brought almost $4 billion
In the first half of 2026, exports of computer services amounted to $3.343 billion compared with $3.210 billion for the same period last year. Adding July's result, Ukrainian companies exported approximately $3.91 billion in computer services from January through July.
For the same seven months of 2025, the figure was about $3.765 billion. Thus, by the end of seven months, foreign exchange revenue from computer services increased by approximately $145 million, or almost 4%.
Even after the first half of the year, computer services remained the largest separate category of Ukrainian service exports, accounting for 41.4% of the total. In January-June, their exports grew by 4.1% year-on-year.
IT share in export structure is decreasing
Despite the growth in foreign exchange revenue, the relative weight of computer services in total service exports decreased noticeably in July.
Total service exports from Ukraine reached $1.468 billion in July, which is $75 million, or 5.4%, more than in June. Computer services in the same month added only 1.1%. As a result, their share fell from about 40.3% in June to 38.6% in July.
For comparison, in July last year, computer services formed about 41.1% of total service exports. That means over the year, IT exports in monetary terms increased, but their share decreased by about 2.5 percentage points.
A similar trend was already visible after the first half of the year. Combined exports of telecommunications, computer, and information services grew by 4.3% year-on-year to $3.417 billion, but their share in all service exports decreased from 43.3% to 42.3%.
Which services are growing faster
The decrease in IT's share does not mean a decline in the sector itself. Primarily, it reflects faster recovery of several other areas of Ukrainian service exports.
In particular, in the first half of the year, exports of road freight transport grew significantly – by 61% to $367 million. Professional and management consulting services added 16.9%, exports of research and development services grew by 40.8%, and air freight transport by almost 30%.
Therefore, the structure of service exports is gradually becoming less dependent on one IT segment, although computer services still remain the largest separate source of foreign exchange revenue in this category.
The US remains the main market
The largest buyer of Ukrainian computer services remains the United States. In the first half of the year, services worth $1.234 billion were exported to the American market – 36.9% of all IT exports. Over the year, deliveries to the US increased by 8.7%.
Among the largest destinations were Malta – about $280 million, the United Kingdom – $267 million, Cyprus – $250 million, and Switzerland – $124 million. The top ten key markets also included Israel, Estonia, Germany, Poland, and the UAE.
At the same time, geographic dynamics remain mixed. In the first half of the year, exports to the UAE grew by about 25%, to Estonia – by 18%, to Poland – by more than 10%. Meanwhile, sales of computer services to Germany fell by almost 15%, to the United Kingdom – by about 5.5%, and to Israel – by more than 8%.
Thus, the first seven months of the year show two parallel trends: Ukrainian IT exports are gradually increasing foreign exchange revenue, but their dominance in the structure of service exports is weakening due to faster growth of other sectors.
At the same time, monthly NBU statistics are operational and may be further refined after publication of more detailed quarterly data.
