Grain yield in Ukraine exceeded last year's figures

The average yield of grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine at the beginning of September 2026 increased to 46.8 c/ha. This is approximately 14% more than at the same stage last year's harvest, with noticeable growth recorded for the main early grain crops.

As of September 1, Ukrainian farmers have threshed 6.82 million hectares, or 58% of the projected area. The total gross harvest of grain and leguminous crops reached 31.94 million tons.

For comparison, as of August 29, 2025, farmers harvested 28.37 million tons of grain from 6.89 million hectares. The average yield then was about 41.2 c/ha. Thus, the current figure is approximately 13.6% higher.

Yield improvement is noticeable for key crops as well. Wheat this year is being harvested at an average of 49.2 c/ha compared to about 43.7 c/ha at the end of August last year. The increase is about 13%.

Barley yields increased by about the same amount — from 38.4 to 43.2 c/ha. Peas show even more positive dynamics: the current 26.5 c/ha is approximately 19% higher than last year's figure at the same harvesting stage.

The harvest of the main early crops is almost complete. Wheat has been threshed on 98% of the projected area, yielding 24.76 million tons. The barley harvest amounts to 6.37 million tons, and peas — 790 thousand tons. The harvest of the latter two crops is virtually finished.

The highest average grain yield is currently shown by Khmelnytskyi region — 70.8 c/ha. Next are Sumy region with 60.1 c/ha and Vinnytsia — 59.7 c/ha.

In terms of total grain already harvested, Odesa region leads with 4.82 million tons. Dnipropetrovsk region threshed 2.66 million tons, Kirovohrad region — 2.42 million tons.

The rapeseed harvest is also nearly complete. Farmers harvested 3.79 million tons from 1.33 million hectares with an average yield of 28.6 c/ha. This is also higher than last year's figure at the same stage, when the yield was about 25.1 c/ha.

Meanwhile, the harvest of later crops begins. The first farms are already threshing corn, sunflower, and buckwheat.
