U.S. President Donald Trump plans to hold separate phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday, September 7, after Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner report to him on the results of negotiations in Moscow and Kyiv.

This is reported by Kyiv Independent, citing a U.S. official and a source familiar with the situation.

According to the publication, before the calls, Trump is expected to receive a report from Witkoff and Kushner about their diplomatic mission. After that, the U.S. president is expected to first speak with Putin and then with Zelensky.

A U.S. official told Kyiv Independent that both conversations are planned for September 7. The White House has not officially announced their schedule yet.

Trump last held separate phone calls with Putin and Zelensky on July 4 this year. At that time, the U.S. president first spoke with the Russian leader and then with the President of Ukraine.

Witkoff and Kushner held talks over the weekend first in Moscow and then in Kyiv. On September 5, they spoke with Putin for more than three hours, and the next day they held three rounds of negotiations with the Ukrainian side, the last of which was joined by representatives of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.

According to Axios, after the talks in Kyiv, the American envoys intend to work with the parties on an updated proposal to end the war. A White House representative said after the Moscow meeting that the parties discussed specific plans for further steps.

Washington sees a possible next stage in the return to direct trilateral negotiations between the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia. Kushner said after the meetings in Kyiv that the American side had already discussed resuming such a format with both parties.

Zelensky, for his part, reported that Ukraine, the United States, and European partners agreed to hold another meeting in the near future. According to him, the territorial issue remains one of the key ones, and such difficult decisions can be discussed at the level of leaders.

However, as of the morning of September 7, other leading American media, including Axios, did not separately report on the planned phone calls of Trump with Putin and Zelensky.
