Great Britain is allocating 100 million pounds sterling (116 million euros) for an air defense package for Ukraine ahead of winter, including Patriot missiles. This is reported by the British government, according to Європейська правда.

As part of the new package, Britain will supply interceptors for air defense, large-caliber artillery shells and drones to help Ukraine defend against Russian attacks this winter.

The weapons will be supplied using the PURL mechanism, within which Ukraine's allies purchase American weapons for its needs.

It is noted that Patriot missiles and other air defense equipment will be delivered to Ukraine before the onset of winter, helping it protect its critical national infrastructure, civilian population and armed forces from Russian attacks.

The announcement of assistance followed visits by the Prime Minister and Defense Minister of Britain to Kyiv, where they heard from the Ukrainian president about the importance of additional support ahead of winter.

"Both the Prime Minister and I, during our first visits to Kyiv, clearly realized how important it is to support Ukraine throughout this winter, as Putin prepares to use winter as a weapon, continuing barbaric attacks on civilian and energy facilities. We promised to mobilize allies and provide more support wherever we can", – announced the head of the Ministry of Defense Wes Streeting.

Streeting on Tuesday chairs his first meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group ("Ramstein" format) – an association of 50 countries that provides military equipment to Ukraine. The 36th meeting in the so-called "Ramstein" format on September 8 will be held remotely under the chairmanship of the defense ministers of Great Britain and Germany.

On September 7, at NATO headquarters in Brussels, an extraordinary meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council at the level of permanent representatives took place, during which the Ukrainian side handed over to the allies a list of priority and urgent needs in air defense and missile defense systems.
