Russia attacked the '7th Kilometer' market near Odesa: hundreds of pavilions damaged

On the night of September 8, Russian forces launched a missile strike on a market in the suburbs of Odesa. The attack damaged over 200 trade pavilions and injured three men. According to local media and Telegram channels, the industrial goods market "7th Kilometer" was hit.

The consequences of the attack were reported by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, and the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the prosecutor's office, at night Russian forces attacked civilian infrastructure in the Odesa district with ballistic missiles. One of the damaged objects was a large market, where over 200 trade pavilions were damaged as a result of the strike.

Initially, the Odesa Regional Military Administration reported one casualty – a 58-year-old market security guard. He was hospitalized in moderate condition.

Later, the number of injured increased to three. Two men born in 1972 and 1978 also sought medical assistance. They did not require hospitalization.

The market is "7th Kilometer"

Officially, the Odesa Regional Military Administration and the prosecutor's office did not name the market in their statements. However, local media and Telegram channels reported that the industrial goods market "7th Kilometer" in the suburbs of Odesa was hit by the Russian strike.

This was also confirmed by a representative of the enterprise itself. The deputy director of LLC "Industrial Goods Market 7th Kilometer", Iryna Tkach, told Suspilne that the attack damaged the administrative building and other facilities on the market's territory. The injured employee underwent surgery, and the administration promised to provide assistance to those in need.

According to Suspilne, at around 03:30 two explosions were heard in Odesa. Before that, the Air Force had warned about a high-speed target heading towards the city. 

Prosecutor's office investigates the attack as a war crime

Regarding the Russian strike, the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office launched a pre-trial investigation under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of the laws and customs of war.

At the site of the attack, law enforcement officers are documenting the damage and other consequences of the strike. The investigation is being conducted by the SBU department in the Odesa region.
