Russian troops attacked the international road border crossing point 'Starokozache' in Odesa Oblast on the border with Moldova with strike drones on the night of September 9. The strike damaged infrastructure and killed and injured civilians.

This was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

According to border guards, Russian drones hit the crossing point infrastructure and adjacent territory. Fires broke out after the strikes.

The SBGS reported killed and injured civilians who were near the crossing point during the attack. The exact number of casualties has not yet been announced.

Due to the aftermath of the attack, processing of citizens and vehicles at 'Starokozache' has been temporarily suspended. The Ukrainian side informed Moldovan border guards about the situation.

'Starokozache' is located in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district of Odesa Oblast and operates in conjunction with the Moldovan 'Tudora' crossing point. Until crossing operations resume, travelers and carriers need to take into account restrictions when planning their route across the Ukrainian-Moldovan border.

Russia regularly attacks crossing points

This is at least the fifth Russian attack on border infrastructure in southern Ukraine in less than three weeks.

On September 1, the 'Orlivka - Isaccea' crossing point on the Ukrainian-Romanian border temporarily suspended operations after a nighttime attack by Russian strike drones.

On the night of August 25, Shahed-type drones attacked the international road crossing point 'Vynohradivka' on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border. The strike damaged the crossing point infrastructure and caused a fire, which was localized by rescuers.

On August 21, the international 'Tabaky - Myrne' crossing point on the border with Moldova temporarily suspended operations after a drone attack. Infrastructure and administrative buildings of the customs post were damaged.

Just a day earlier, on August 20, a Russian Shahed hit an object near the 'Reni - Giurgiulesti' crossing point. A fire broke out after the strike.

Thus, over the past weeks, Russian troops have been systematically striking crossing points and border infrastructure in Odesa Oblast on Ukraine's borders with Moldova and Romania.
