Retailer considers moving warehouses to Poland after Russian attacks

The company "Bureau of Wine", which develops retail projects under the Goodwine brand, is considering moving part of its warehousing facilities to Poland after a series of Russian attacks on its infrastructure. Other options include using underground storage and distributing stocks among several smaller sites.

This was announced by Bureau of Wine co-founder Dmytro Krymsky.

According to him, the company's warehouse near Kyiv came under attack on 1 September. The value of destroyed stocks is estimated at about €4 million. This is already the third major loss of warehouse infrastructure for the company since the start of the full-scale war.

In 2022, a Russian strike destroyed Bureau of Wine's stocks worth about €15 million. Another warehouse was damaged in July 2026 – then the company lost goods worth approximately €1.5 million.

After repeated attacks, the company no longer calculates on a model where a significant part of stocks is concentrated on one large facility. Krymsky noted that the options currently considered include several small warehouses, underground premises and storage of part of the goods in a neighboring country, in particular Poland.

The restructuring of logistics will also affect costs. According to Krymsky's estimate, prices in his business may grow by about 5%. The reason, he says, is not a shortage of goods, but additional costs for transportation, storage and distribution of stocks.

The National Bank estimates that the restructuring of logistics after strikes on trade infrastructure may add about 0.5–1.5% to food prices over the course of a year. For individual chains that have lost main distribution centers, costs may rise more significantly.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food stated that no physical food shortage is expected in Ukraine. The country has sufficient domestic production, however due to the restructuring of supplies, the assortment of certain goods in stores may temporarily shrink. The ministry also estimated the additional impact of logistical problems on food prices at about 2.5%.

Attacks on warehousing infrastructure in recent months have affected not only food retail. The World Health Organization reported that three warehouses used for humanitarian medical cargo were destroyed in Ukraine within three months. One of the main such facilities in the Kyiv region was destroyed during an attack on September 3.
