SBI announced suspicion to SBU official for storing ammunition in Myla

The State Bureau of Investigation reported suspicion to the head of one of the supply units of the Security Service of Ukraine, who, according to the investigation, organized the storage of ammunition near residential buildings in the village of Myla in Kyiv region. At the end of August, after a Russian strike on this facility, a large-scale detonation occurred, as a result of which dozens of people died. This was reported by the SBI and the Office of the Prosecutor General.

According to the investigation, the official was responsible for organizing the storage of ammunition at the facility in Myla, located next to residential buildings. Law enforcement officers believe that improper storage organization could have significantly increased the scale of the consequences of the Russian attack.

The official is charged with negligent attitude to military service. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, law enforcement officers are identifying all persons whose decisions could have led to the placement of a significant amount of ammunition near civilian buildings.

The tragedy occurred on the evening of August 28. According to the SBU, a Russian reactive drone of the "Geran-4" type hit the warehouse, after which secondary detonation of ammunition began.

Later, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the first hit was on the ammunition storage site of the Defense Forces, which, according to him, "definitely should not have been there". The President emphasized that those responsible for such a decision must be held accountable.

According to the latest data from the regional authorities, as a result of the Russian strike and subsequent explosions, 38 people died, another 52 were injured, including five children. In Myla and nearby settlements, about 300 objects were damaged, including over 200 private houses and 14 multi-storey buildings.

Among the dead is the head of the Dmytrivka community, Taras Didych. He was one of the first to arrive at the site of the Russian strike to help people and died during the subsequent detonation.

Due to the danger, 381 people were evacuated from the village, including 59 children. The section of the Kyiv - Chop highway between the 15th and 32nd kilometers was temporarily closed for the work of emergency services and evacuation of the population.

After the tragedy, Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi stated that the previous ammunition detonation in Vyshneve "did not become a lesson" and called on law enforcement officers for a quick and strict reaction.
