Train delays hit almost entire Ukrzaliznytsia network: over 20 days, out of 436 analyzed routes, 400 at least once appeared on the list of trips that deviated from schedule. In total, over 2.3 thousand cases of delays were recorded during this period.

Ukrainska Pravda presents these results of the analysis of data from the "UZ Delays" service for the period from August 21 to September 9 in an article. The study covered 363 trains.

The average delay duration was about 2 hours and 12 minutes. The most challenging situation was observed on the Sumy direction: train No. 779 Sumy - Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi appeared on the delay list 19 out of 20 days, and No. 775 on the same route - 18 out of 20 days, with an average delay of over six hours.

It was train No. 775 that set the longest single delay during the study period - 17 hours and 15 minutes on August 26.

Russian attacks remain one of the main factors

In 64.9% of recorded cases, Ukrzaliznytsia did not indicate the reason for the delay. At the same time, the impact of hostilities was noted in 29.2% of cases, and technical reasons in 9.6%.

From early July to September 9, UP counted at least 14 Russian strikes on trains. The Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv and Odesa directions are the most frequently attacked.

Ukrzaliznytsia notes that due to new mass attacks on energy and transport infrastructure, the schedule has experienced the largest shift in the last six months.

Long-distance trains will not be cancelled for now

Despite the difficult situation, Ukrzaliznytsia currently does not plan to cancel any long-distance train due to shelling. Most services run with deviations from the schedule of one to nine hours.

The company will only consider a complete stop of traffic on a direction or separate segment in case of mass damage to trains and railway infrastructure and a significant increase in threat to passengers.
