Tusk allowed Russian attacks on Polish territory

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned that in the coming weeks and months Russia could significantly intensify its actions, and escalation could also affect Polish territory. Because of this, Polish services are switching to an enhanced work regime.

Tusk said this on September 13 during a meeting at the Government Security Centre, convened after Russian attacks near the Polish border.

According to the prime minister, escalation on Russia's part has already become a fact, and its manifestations are taking place increasingly closer to Poland. He noted that Warsaw over recent months has been receiving information about the possible intensification of Russian actions.

"We know and can expect that the coming weeks and months will be a period of very intense actions by Russia. Unfortunately, we cannot rule out that the escalation will also cover our territory", - stated Tusk.

The Polish prime minister paid special attention to Russia's use of jet-powered drones. According to him, their range and accuracy cause concern, and the latest attacks demonstrate the Russian Federation's readiness to use more dangerous systems.

Tusk said that he expects from Polish services an assessment of the country's readiness for the possible use of such drones, as well as for attempts to disrupt the work of critically important facilities. Among potential targets, he separately named the railway and enterprises.

During the Russian attack on September 13 in the western regions of Ukraine, according to Deputy Minister of Defense of Poland Cezary Tomczyk, 13 strikes were recorded. It was precisely after these events that Tusk convened a meeting with the participation of heads of law enforcement agencies and services.

The prime minister emphasized that he is not calling for panic, but Poland together with its allies must be ready for a quick reaction in case of further escalation.
