Prosecutor General Kravchenko left the country after resignation statement and conflict with NABU

Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, who has submitted his resignation, left the territory of Ukraine in an official car. Kravchenko himself confirmed that he is on a business trip abroad, where he plans meetings with international partners amid the escalation of his conflict with NABU and SAPO.

The departure of the Prosecutor General was reported by "Ukrainska Pravda" with reference to its own sources. According to the publication, Kravchenko left the territory of Ukraine in an official car.

Subsequently, the Prosecutor General himself confirmed that he is currently abroad, but called his trip a business trip.

"I am currently on a business trip abroad, within the framework of which a number of meetings are planned, during which I intend to inform international partners about the real state of affairs in the system of anti-corruption bodies", - Kravchenko said.

According to him, during the meetings he also intends to raise the issue of "signs of concentration" by anti-corruption bodies of uncontrolled influence and the risks that, in his opinion, this creates for state sovereignty, the rule of law and democratic institutions of Ukraine.

Kravchenko did not specify in which country he is, with whom the negotiations are planned and how long the business trip will last.

The departure takes place against the background of a sharp escalation of the confrontation between the Prosecutor General and anti-corruption bodies. The day before, Kravchenko announced that he had signed a notice of suspicion to the director of NABU Semen Kryvonos, and later published documents and reported that the suspicion had been registered in the URPTI and sent in accordance with the procedure prescribed by law.

NABU and SAPO called these actions a continuation of a "systemic attack" on independent anti-corruption bodies and stressed that at the time of their statement the suspicion had not been officially handed to Kryvonos. President Volodymyr Zelensky did not publicly comment on the content of the suspicion, but earlier reported that he had separately met with the heads of NABU and SAPO and with Kravchenko; after this conversation, the Prosecutor General submitted his resignation, and Zelensky said that the relevant submission would be sent to the Verkhovna Rada.

Kravchenko's resignation takes place against the background of the NABU and SAPO operation "Carthage" regarding the alleged "protection" of fraudulent call centers. Anti-corruption bodies announced the exposure of a criminal organization, which, according to the investigation, was headed by one of the heads of a structural unit of the Prosecutor General's Office. Kravchenko himself denies his involvement in illegal activities.
