Russia may continue large-scale drone attacks throughout the day – Air Force

Russia may continue large-scale attacks with strike drones throughout September 14. The Air Force has information about the enemy's readiness to launch a significant number of UAVs from the northern and eastern directions.

This was stated by the spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Yuriy Ignat, on the air of the national telethon.

According to him, Russian drones are already attacking Odesa region, while the threat remains for the northern regions. The Air Force expects that during the day the enemy may carry out new launches from various directions.

This time, Russia again actively uses strike UAVs with internal combustion engines – primarily conventional "Shaheds". Ignat suggested that Russia used a significant part of its accumulated jet-powered drones during intense attacks in August, while stocks of classic Shaheds could have been accumulated for the next waves of strikes.

Jet drones have higher speed, but their range depends on the ratio of fuel reserve to warhead mass. That is why, according to the spokesman, when striking more distant western regions, Russia may more often use conventional drones with internal combustion engines.

"It is expected that these attacks may be continued during today", – noted Ignat.

The Air Force links the change in the set of weapons to Russia's attempts to constantly change tactics and complicate the work of Ukrainian air defense. In addition to various types of drones, Russian troops combine them with ballistic, cruise, and aviation missiles.

According to Ignat, the entire layered air defense system is involved in repelling the attacks. Currently, about 90% of enemy air targets of this type are neutralized, but even a small share of breakthroughs creates a significant risk for objects on the ground.

On the morning of September 14, the Air Force continued to record the movement of both conventional strike and jet-powered drones in different parts of the country. In particular, UAVs were reported over Zaporizhzhia region, Odesa region, Sumy region, Kharkiv region, Vinnytsia region, Khmelnytskyi region, and Chernivtsi region, as well as jet drones entering from the territory of the Russian Federation through Chernihiv region.
