Shelling damaged power grids: new outages reported in several regions

As a result of Russian attacks, new power outages have been recorded in several regions of Ukraine. In Mykolaiv Oblast, due to damage to an overhead power line, 18 settlements were left without electricity, and in Poltava Oblast, energy infrastructure came under fire.

The consequences of the shelling were reported by "Ukrenergo" and regional military administrations.

According to the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, debris from a Russian attack damaged an overhead power line. As a result, electricity supply disappeared in 18 settlements - a total of 3,628 subscribers.

Power engineers are already working to restore power.

Ukrenergo reported that as of the morning of September 16, new outages caused by Russian drone strikes and artillery shelling were also recorded in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Cherkasy, and Kherson oblasts.

Emergency restoration operations are being carried out in all areas where the security situation allows.

Separately, the Poltava Regional Military Administration reported that energy infrastructure in the region was hit during a Russian attack. Relevant services are working at the site.

Electricity consumption has decreased

According to Ukrenergo, as of 09:30 on September 16, the electricity consumption level was 7% lower than at the same time the previous day.

The company explained this by sunny weather in most regions, thanks to which the output of household solar power plants increased and electricity withdraw from the common grid decreased.

At the same time, Ukrainians are urged to shift the active use of powerful electrical appliances to the period from 11:00 to 15:00, when industrial solar power plants operate most efficiently.

In the evening hours - from 18:00 to 22:00 - Ukrenergo asks to consume electricity sparingly.
