DIU found equipment from five countries at the production of "Geraniums" in Alabuga
The Main Intelligence Directorate (DIU) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine identified 20 units of foreign technological equipment used for the production of Russian attack UAVs "Geran" of various modifications in the special economic zone "Alabuga". This refers to equipment from manufacturers from China, Germany, Japan, Switzerland and Iran.
DIU released new data on September 17 on the War&Sanctions portal in the "War Tools" section.
The list includes lathes, milling and drilling machines, machining centers, industrial robots, automatic electronic component inserters and other technological equipment necessary for various stages of drone production.
In particular, Ukrainian intelligence discovered in "Alabuga" a vertical milling machining center VMC 1000Q from the Chinese company SMTCL (Shenyang Machine Tool), an automatic component inserter RS-1R from Japanese JUKI, as well as a mechatronic line from German Festo, equipped with an industrial robot Melfa from Japanese Mitsubishi.
The War&Sanctions database also lists, among others, the German lathe Opticut 260 manufactured by WEINIG and the industrial robot KR AGILUS KR 6 from KUKA. According to GUR, such equipment is located at the production facilities of "Alabuga", involved in the production of various modifications of UAVs from the "Geran" family.
Foreign equipment is used at several stages of the technological process - from metal and other material machining to mounting SMD components on printed circuit boards and personnel training on specialized production lines.
At the same time, DIU does not claim that foreign manufacturers knowingly supplied their products directly for Russian military production. The intelligence called on manufacturers to strengthen control over the end users of equipment and the actual place of its use.
Among the proposed measures are verification of the stated installation site of equipment, stronger control over the supply of spare parts, consumables, software and maintenance, as well as regular audits of distributors and intermediaries in countries with increased risk of re-export to Russia.
DIU also called on manufacturers to investigate cases of their products being found at enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex and to establish chains of its supply in order to stop further access of the Russian Federation to such equipment.
The SEZ "Alabuga" in Tatarstan is one of the key Russian sites for serial production of attack drones of the "Geran" family, created on the basis of Iranian Shahed. Earlier, Ukrainian intelligence repeatedly published information about foreign electronic components in these drones, but this time it released data specifically about industrial equipment used directly in the production process.
