In Kyiv region on September 17, as a result of another Russian attack, a building housing the equipment of mobile operator "Kyivstar" was damaged. Company employees were not injured, and services are continuing to be provided to subscribers without changes. This was reported by "Kyivstar".

The company did not specify what equipment was located in the damaged building and how serious the damage was.

"Currently, the team is working on assessing the consequences of the attack", Kyivstar reported.

At the same time, the operator emphasized that the incident did not affect the availability of its services for subscribers.

Second such case in less than a week

This is at least the second incident of damage to facilities related to "Kyivstar" as a result of Russian strikes in the past week.

On September 11, the company reported that its engineering office in Kyiv had been damaged in a drone attack. At that time, employees were also unharmed, and both mobile and fixed networks continued to operate normally.

Kyivstar's telecommunications infrastructure has been damaged before during the full-scale war. The company takes into account the risk of physical destruction of individual facilities when building its network and uses redundancy so that losing one site does not lead to a widespread loss of communication.

As of early 2026, the operator has invested over 4.6 billion UAH in energy resilience projects for its network. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, over 12,000 new base stations have been installed and more than 32,000 facilities modernized. According to the company, its entire mobile network has backup power, except for damaged and certain facilities in the combat zone.

Kyivstar serves more than 21 million mobile subscribers

Kyivstar is the largest electronic communications operator in Ukraine. As of June 30, 2026, the company served about 21.8 million mobile subscribers and more than 1.3 million fixed internet users. Its 4G network is available to more than 96% of the population in the territory controlled by Ukraine.

The parent company, Kyivstar Group, trades on the American Nasdaq exchange under the ticker KYIV. In 2025, it became the first Ukrainian company whose shares entered the American stock market.
