Government allocates almost UAH 790 million for anti-drone protection of roads in five oblasts
The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated UAH 789 million from the state budget reserve fund for the installation of anti-drone protection on motor roads critical for defense and logistics. Funds will go to the Restoration Agency and five frontline oblasts.
Of the total, UAH 356.7 million is earmarked for the Restoration Agency, and another UAH 432.3 million for oblast military administrations. In particular, Zaporizhzhia Oblast will receive UAH 172.6 million, Chernihiv Oblast – UAH 105 million, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast – UAH 70.7 million, Donetsk Oblast – UAH 60 million, and Kherson Oblast – UAH 24 million.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Environment, these are priority logistics routes used, in particular, for evacuation and transportation of humanitarian and medical cargo. The list of priority works has been agreed with the Ministry of Defense.
The funds may be used for road maintenance and purchase of materials for installing anti-drone protection. Financing will be provided during 2026. The government explained the use of the reserve fund because it is impossible to finance the required volume of works from current budget allocations, local budgets, and other sources.
Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi stated that the works must begin immediately and be completed as soon as possible. According to the Ministry of Defense, as of September 15, more than 2,000 km of anti-drone protection has already been installed on frontline roads.
