Over 600 million UAH to be spent on supporting a new water pipeline for Kryvyi Rih
The Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast has signed a contract worth 608.25 million UAH for clearing the Inhulets riverbed near water intake facilities in the Kryvyi Rih district. The work is necessary for the stable operation of the Inhulets – Pivdenne Reservoir main water pipeline, built after the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP.
The contract was awarded to Kryvyi Rih-based LLC "Vait". The project covers a river stretch within the Novolativska rural community, approximately 12.3 km long.
Of the total contract amount, about 1.8 million UAH is for design and expert review, and 606.45 million UAH for direct construction work. The design phase must be completed by the end of 2026, and the main work by the end of 2027.
The works include clearing the riverbed of silt, aquatic vegetation, shrubs, and hazardous trees, as well as bank reinforcement. The goal is to maintain the required water flow of the Inhulets near the intake and reduce risks to the operation of the new main water pipeline.
The Inhulets – Pivdenne Reservoir water pipeline was built as one of the key infrastructure projects after the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP in 2023. It supplies water to Kryvyi Rih. According to the Restoration Agency, the facility is almost complete, and water is already being delivered through it in regular mode.
The need for additional work is explained by significant siltation and obstruction of the Inhulets riverbed. The procurement documentation notes that the deterioration of the river's condition poses risks to water intake and may lead to restrictions in centralized water supply and problems at critical infrastructure facilities.
The procurement was conducted without open bidding. The customer cited the urgent necessity of the works and the inclusion of the project in the list of measures to enhance the resilience of water supply systems.
"Nashi Hroshi" also drew attention to certain prices of construction materials in the estimate. In particular, crushed stone of M400 grade, 40-70 mm fraction, was priced at 1,022 UAH per cubic meter, and the 5-10 mm fraction at 1,740 UAH. According to the State Restoration Agency's July monitoring, average prices in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast for similar items were lower – 703 and 724 UAH, respectively.
However, direct comparison of individual materials may depend on their characteristics, delivery conditions, and work schedule. The total contract price is firm.
LLC "Vait" has already worked on large infrastructure projects in the region, in particular on the construction of the Inhulets – Pivdenne Reservoir main water pipeline. According to "Nashi Hroshi", since 2020 the company has received state contracts worth approximately 3.38 billion UAH.
