Russia struck Silpo food warehouses in the Odesa region; the company confirmed this (Updated)

On the night of September 20–21, Russian troops struck a Silpo distribution center in Odesa. A massive fire broke out at the facility. The company confirmed the attack and reported that no employees were injured.

The Odesa Regional Military Administration reported that after the strikes, warehouse premises of a retail chain caught fire. The fire has already been extinguished, while the work of rescuers was complicated by the threat of repeated air attacks.

The State Emergency Service clarified that these same warehouse premises had previously come under Russian strikes. More than 80 rescuers were involved in eliminating the consequences this time.

Local Telegram channels report that the strikes targeted warehouse capacities of the "Silpo" chain in the Dachne area. At the same time, the Odesa Regional Military Administration and the State Emergency Service did not officially name the company, and there is currently no confirmation from the chain itself.

Update: The Silpo chain has confirmed that its distribution center in Odesa was hit during the Russian attack on the night of September 20–21. The company emphasized that no one was injured.

"We are currently assessing the consequences and readjusting our processes," the company said.

Silpo has not yet provided any further details regarding the extent of the damage.

That same night, Russia also attacked other logistics facilities in Odesa region. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed strikes on a dry cargo ship in the port of Odesa, port infrastructure facilities in Izmail, and another dry cargo ship during its sea passage. The Russian side asserts that these objects were used for supplying military cargo. The Ukrainian side has not confirmed the purpose of the cargoes.

In recent weeks, Russia has been regularly attacking warehouse, logistics, and port infrastructure in Odesa region. At the end of August, a strike hit the "Nova Poshta" terminal in the region, where a key sorting line was destroyed. On September 14, the warehouse of one of Ukraine's largest pharmaceutical distributors "BaDM" suffered significant damage, and on September 15, Russian drones again damaged port, logistics, and transport facilities in the region.

The port infrastructure of Odesa region also remains one of the constant targets of Russian attacks. Strikes on ports, warehouses, and transport hubs create additional risks for imports, exports, and internal supply of goods.
