United Russia again receives majority in State Duma, 90% of protocols processed

The United Russia party, according to preliminary results of the State Duma elections of the Russian Federation, is gaining 57.86% of votes on federal party lists. This result was recorded after processing 90.43% of protocols.

In second place is the Communist Party of the Russian Federation with 13.84%, followed by the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia with 8.9% and New People with 7.94%. A Just Russia at this stage receives 4.95% and does not overcome the five-percent barrier for distribution of mandates on party lists.

Half of the 450 State Duma deputies are elected on party lists, another 225 - in single-mandate constituencies. United Russia candidates also lead in the vast majority of such constituencies. According to preliminary estimates of Russian media, the party may receive about 330 mandates and thus retain a constitutional majority - more than two-thirds of seats in the lower house of parliament.

The result of United Russia on the lists is currently noticeably higher than in the previous elections of 2021, when the party received 49.82%. According to data after processing over 82% of protocols, the absolute number of votes cast for it has also already exceeded the result of the previous campaign.

The final election results are planned to be summarized by the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation no earlier than September 25, since by that time the commission must consider possible complaints. Preliminary turnout is about 57%.

Voting took place from September 18 to 20. Russia for the first time included in the State Duma elections also the occupied territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions of Ukraine, which Moscow after the illegal annexation in 2022 calls its "new regions". Russian media confirmed the conduct there of both early and main voting.

At the same time, Yabloko was not allowed to the federal vote on party lists. The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation in August cancelled the registration of the party's list after a lawsuit by Rodina. Among the claims were copyright violations in election campaigning and alleged foreign financing. Yabloko openly ran in the elections with an anti-war program.

At the same time, the party was able to get into the Novgorod Oblast Duma - the only regional parliament where its list was allowed to the elections. After counting 100% of protocols, Yabloko received 6.2%. United Russia there gained 38.37%, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation - 14.54%, the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia - 12.01%, New People - 9.87%.

In parallel, elections of heads of a number of Russian regions were held. In particular, Ramzan Kadyrov, according to data after processing 100% of protocols, received 99.85% of votes in Chechnya. In a number of other regions, candidates from United Russia also lead or win.
