Russia attacked a gas station in Zhytomyr region twice in the morning - consequences
On the morning of September 21, Russian troops attacked fueling complexes in Zviahel district of Zhytomyr region twice. As a result of the second strike, a WOG gas station suffered damage. This was reported by the head of Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration Vitaliy Bunechko.
The first to be hit was a gas station on the M-06 Kyiv - Chop highway in the suburbs of Zviahel. After the attack a fire broke out at the site, and special services were working to eliminate the consequences and ensure safe traffic movement.
Later, Bunechko reported about another attack on a fueling complex in Zviahel district. According to operational data, the WOG gas station was damaged this time. No information about casualties or injuries has been received.
The work of emergency services was complicated by the threat of repeated strikes. The Regional Military Administration urged workers and visitors of gas stations to leave the premises of fueling complexes during air raid alerts and not to leave cars there.
Later the head of the Regional Military Administration reported that the consequences of the first strike were eliminated, and traffic on the M-06 international highway in the suburbs of Zviahel was restored.
This is not the first series of Russian attacks on gas stations in Zhytomyr region. On September 12, on a single day, BRSM gas stations in Zviahel and two gas stations in Korosten came under attack. As a result of those strikes, fires broke out at the stations, which rescuers later extinguished.
Even earlier, on July 15, Russian troops attacked a gas station in Malyn community. Two people were hospitalized, one of the victims was in serious condition.
Due to systematic attacks on fuel infrastructure, at the end of August the authorities of Zhytomyr region introduced a mandatory shutdown of gas stations in Korosten district during air raid alerts. Workers and visitors must leave the territory of the complexes and move to safe places.
Recently, strikes on gas stations are being recorded far beyond the border and frontline regions. On September 10, a Russian drone damaged a gas station in Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv - three people were injured. The next day in Obolonskyi district of the capital, Russian drones twice attacked the territory of another gas station, and another hit was recorded at a station in Desnianskyi district. As a result of the attacks on September 11, two people were killed and six more were injured.
