Fuel slowed price growth over the weekend – review of gasoline and diesel prices in Ukraine
After a sharp price surge during the past working week, the growth rate of retail fuel prices in Ukraine noticeably slowed down over the weekend. As of September 21, gasoline continued to rise in price, while the average price of diesel fuel even slightly decreased.
This is evidenced by the daily monitoring data of the Consulting Group "A-95".
The average price of A-95 gasoline in Ukraine rose by 15 kopecks since Friday, to 89.15 UAH/l. Premium A-95+ went up by 66 kopecks, to 93.33 UAH/l, and A-92 by 91 kopecks, to 85.16 UAH/l.
Diesel, after rapid growth in the previous days, fell by an average of 13 kopecks, to 98.55 UAH/l. Autogas remained virtually unchanged at 44.14 UAH/l, adding about 4 kopecks.
Thus, compared to the past working week, the dynamics have significantly calmed down. Until September 18, regular A-95 rose by almost 4 UAH/l over five working days, A-95+ by about 3.8 UAH, and diesel by almost 2.7 UAH.

At the same time, behind the relatively calm average dynamics, significant changes in individual networks are hidden. Most notably among the largest operators, SOCAR revised prices. The chain raised A-95 and A-95+ by 1 UAH/l, and diesel by 3.10 UAH, to 103 UAH/l.
This means that the psychological mark of 100 UAH/l has been surpassed for the first time among the top-8 major operators. As recently as Friday, the largest chains kept diesel below this threshold: OKKO and WOG sold it at an average of 99.90 UAH/l, KLO at 99.80 UAH/l.
UKRNAFTA raised A-95 by 1 UAH, to 87.90 UAH/l, and premium gasoline by 4 UAH, to 90.90 UAH/l. At the same time, diesel and autogas in the network remained unchanged.
UPG, on the contrary, lowered prices: A-95 and A-95+ fell by a hryvnia, and diesel by 2 UAH/l, to 97.90 UAH. At "BRSM-Nafta" diesel also became cheaper by about 36 kopecks, while A-95 added about 9 kopecks.
OKKO, WOG, and KLO did not change their main price tags over the weekend. At AMIC, gasoline and diesel also remained at the previous level, but autogas rose by about 33 kopecks.
Notable movements also occurred outside the top-8. VostokGaz, which sharply reduced prices at the end of last week, raised A-95 and diesel by 3 UAH/l over the weekend, to 86.99 and 97.99 UAH/l respectively. Autogas in the network went up by 1.50 UAH, to 44.49 UAH/l.
SUNOIL raised A-92 by 2.50 UAH, diesel by 2 UAH, A-95 by about a hryvnia, and autogas by 1.31 UAH/l. In the "Katral" network, A-95, A-95+ and diesel rose by 2 UAH/l.
In the "SVOI" network, A-95 added 2.40 UAH, diesel 2 UAH, and autogas just over a hryvnia. Grand Petrol raised A-95 by 2 UAH and A-95+ by a hryvnia.
At the same time, there were also decreases. Besides UPG, Green Wave reduced the average price of diesel by 2 UAH, to 97.80 UAH/l, and autogas by a hryvnia, to 42.80 UAH/l.
Thus, after a large-scale price revision last week, the market overall shifted to a significantly more restrained dynamic over the weekend. However, there is no single trend in the networks yet: some operators continue to raise prices, while others have already begun to adjust them downward.
