In "Diia" expanded "Marriage online" for widows and widowers

In the "Diia" app, the "Marriage online" service has been expanded - now Ukrainians whose husband or wife has died can use it. This was reported by the press service of "Diia".

To submit an application, it is no longer necessary to collect paper certificates or contact the Civil Registry Office. "Diia" automatically obtains the necessary information and verifies it against state registers.

The only condition is that information about the death of the previous husband or wife must be contained in the State Register of Civil Status Acts. If the corresponding record exists, the app will automatically open the possibility to apply for a new marriage.

For registration, you need to go to the section "Services" - "Family" - "Enter into marriage", invite your partner, choose the date and time of the ceremony, fill out a joint application, sign it using "Diia.Signature" and pay for the service.

The ceremony itself takes place via video link. After registration, the marriage record appears in the app within a day, and if desired, a paper certificate can be ordered with delivery via "Ukrposhta".

This is not the first expansion of digital family services in "Diia". On September 3, 2026, online divorce was launched in the app. Spouses who do not have common minor children can use the service. The application is created by one partner, after which the other must confirm it.

The full online marriage service itself started working back in September 2024. Since September 9, 2024, Ukrainians have had the opportunity to go through the entire marriage registration process in the app - from filing an application to the ceremony via video link. The first couples tested the technology back in June of that year.

Thus, through "Diia", it is now possible not only to register a new marriage remotely, but also to file for its dissolution in cases provided for the online service.
