Ukraine decreased grain exports, but increased corn supplies

Ukraine has exported 4.662 million tons of grain and leguminous crops since the beginning of the 2026/2027 marketing year. This is approximately 22% less than the previous season, while corn shipments abroad increased more than twofold.

This is evidenced by data from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine as of September 21.

The export of the main early grain crops decreased the most. Wheat exports abroad since the beginning of the season amounted to 2.337 million tons - 43.9% less than the 4.168 million tons in the comparable period of the previous marketing year. Barley exports fell by 46.9% - from 791 thousand to 420 thousand tons.

Meanwhile, the dynamics of corn were opposite. Its exports reached 1.841 million tons against 905 thousand tons a year earlier. Thus, supplies increased by 103.4%, or more than twofold.

The overall decline is especially noticeable in September. In less than three weeks of the month, Ukraine exported 928 thousand tons of grain and leguminous crops against 1.774 million tons in the comparable period last year. Wheat supplies amounted to 652 thousand tons against 1.523 million tons, barley - 52 thousand against 200 thousand tons. At the same time, in September, 221 thousand tons of corn have already been exported against only 32 thousand tons a year earlier.

The export of flour also decreased. Since the beginning of the marketing year, 7.4 thousand tons of flour of all types have been shipped abroad against 13.9 thousand tons in the previous season. In particular, the export of wheat flour decreased almost by half - from 13.3 thousand to 6.8 thousand tons.

Taking into account flour in terms of grain, the total export amounted to 4.672 million tons against 5.997 million tons in the comparable period of the previous marketing year. At the same time, last year's indicators in the ministry table are given as of September 24, 2025, while the current ones are as of September 21, 2026.
