Dollar gains height on the interbank market despite active NBU interventions

On Wednesday, September 23, on the interbank currency market, the smooth rise in non-cash dollar quotes that began yesterday continues. By 12:30, quotes reached 44.88 UAH on the bid, which is 4 kopecks higher than yesterday's daily maximum.

The National Bank is conducting intensive currency interventions, but is not trying to slow growth, only moderate and smooth it. Nevertheless, it is still far from the level of 45.00 for non-cash dollar. The euro on the interbank currency market of Ukraine on Wednesday is trading in the range of 51.12-51.25 UAH on the bid.

On the international currency market FOREX, the euro continues its continuous fall that began a week ago, on Wednesday, September 16, after the US Federal Reserve decided to raise the discount rate by 25 basis points to 4% per annum.

Cash dollar price tags are going up following the non-cash: today at lunchtime, wholesale exchange offices in Kyiv sell dollars at 44.90 UAH, while yesterday at the same time they were selling at 44.83-44.85 UAH. In Lutsk, the dollar is sold at 44.83 UAH, in Poltava and Khmelnytskyi at 44.90 UAH, in Kharkiv and Dnipro at 44.95 UAH.

By 12:30, Ukrainian banks were selling the dollar at prices from 44.85 UAH in BTA Bank to 45.35 UAH in Zaporizhzhia's Metbank. As for the euro, at the moment it can be purchased cheapest at 51.55 UAH in Credit Agricole Bank.

Oil prices have been falling for six consecutive days after reaching a local maximum on September 14-15. The price of the most popular Brent brand today fell by 5%, from $99.98 to $95.53 per barrel.

On crypto exchanges, prices for major cryptocurrencies have been falling for five consecutive days in parallel with the growth of the dollar against leading financial assets. Thus, Bitcoin (BTC) on the most popular crypto exchange Binance has dropped from $87,278 to $85,734 per coin over these days, and Ethereum (ETH) from $2,789 to $2,726.75 per coin. Currently, Bitcoin is being sold at $85,734-85,918 per coin, and Ethereum at $2,731-2,737 per coin.
