Zelensky Claims China Is Already Providing Russia with Technologies for More Precise Drone Strikes

President Volodymyr Zelensky has claimed that China is already providing Russia with technologies it can use to improve the precision of drone operations. According to him, Russian military forces are already testing new solutions in Ukraine, although they have not yet used them on a mass scale.

Zelensky made the statement in an interview with The Wall Street Journal Editor-in-Chief Emma Tucker.

The President noted that China has technologies close to those that could enable significantly more precise drone guidance, and some of those solutions, according to him, have already reached Russia. In the full version of the interview, he also said that the Russian side has already tested the new technology in practice several times.

As an example, Zelensky described a case where a drone flew directly to a building's window, stayed near it, waited for people to appear, and then attacked. The President presented this episode as an example of new capabilities that Russia is testing during the war. He did not provide independent confirmation of the origin of the technology used in this specific case.

According to Zelensky, technological exchange between China and Russia may continue. In the full interview video, he mentioned late December - January as the period when the Ukrainian side expects further transfer of relevant technologies.

Against this backdrop, Ukraine wants to strengthen cooperation with Western technology companies. Zelensky specifically mentioned Elon Musk and SpaceX, thanking the company for Starlink. According to him, the Ukrainian side has already contacted Musk, and teams should continue discussing technological challenges.

The President also linked this process to a broader exchange of combat experience between Russia and its partners. In his opinion, the war in Ukraine is being used not only to test new drone technologies but also to train operators and gain practical experience that could be applied in other regions in the future.

Separately, on September 21, the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission released an updated overview of reports on Beijing-Moscow military-technological cooperation. Among other things, it mentions reports of Chinese personnel being trained in Russia and cooperation related to countering Starlink. However, this document does not directly confirm Zelensky's statement regarding specific technologies for precise drone guidance.
