EU agrees new tranche for Ukraine of almost €3 billion
Ukraine will soon receive almost €3 billion after the EU Council approved the eighth regular tranche under the Ukraine Facility. This is stated in a statement by the EU Council, according to Європейська правда.
The statement emphasises that almost €800 million of this amount will be provided for the first time from a loan to support Ukraine.
"The tranche approved today demonstrates the successful implementation of ten targeted measures by Ukraine. To date, Ukraine has implemented 84 of the 95 targeted measures provided for by the Plan, which is approximately 88% of the measures planned at this time", the EU Council noted.
In addition, on 24 September, the EU Council also amended the "Ukraine Plan", including a voluntary financial contribution from Norway of approximately €92 million as non-repayable assistance.
The Ukraine Support Mechanism allows EU member states, third countries and international organisations to make voluntary contributions. Sweden has already made additional voluntary contributions totalling over €253 million over the past year.
On Wednesday, "EuroPravda" detailed the reforms Ukraine has implemented to receive this tranche.
As is known, on 24 August, Ukraine submitted a request for payment of part of the 5th, 7th and 8th tranches of the "Ukraine Plan" mechanism for providing support to Ukraine – Ukraine Facility" in the amount of €3 billion.
On 30 July, the EU Council approved an updated reform plan under the Ukraine Facility mechanism, which will allow Ukraine to receive €8.3 billion in 2026 to close budget needs.
