Infrastructure attacked in two regions, Russia claims strikes on three ships in the Black Sea

Three dry cargo vessels heading to Ukrainian ports have reportedly been struck in the Black Sea. In Sumy region, a post office was destroyed and a market attacked, while in Dnipropetrovsk region, a post office and other infrastructure facilities were damaged.

On the night and morning of August 7, Russia continued strikes on transport, postal, commercial, and social infrastructure in Ukraine. Vessels in the Black Sea, post offices, a market, and other civilian objects came under attack.

The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that drones struck three dry cargo ships that were en route to Ukrainian ports. According to the Russian agency, the attacks occurred on the evening of the 6th and the morning of August 7.

The Russian side claims that the ships were carrying military cargo, but provided no evidence. The names and flags of the dry cargo vessels, their owners, cargo composition, strike consequences, and crew information have not been disclosed. There is no independent confirmation of the Russian MOD’s statement at the time of publication.

At the same time, Odessa-based Telegram channels published posts that allegedly captured another strike on a ship. The exact location of the filming and the circumstances of the attack cannot be independently verified. Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on the reports of three dry cargo vessels being hit.

Strikes on vessels bound for Ukrainian ports create additional risks for the operation of the maritime corridor, exports, and insurance of commercial shipping in the Black Sea.

Ground logistics were also under massive attacks. In the Hlukhiv community of Sumy region, a Russian attack drone destroyed a post office. The building sustained significant damage; according to preliminary reports, there were no casualties.

The Russians struck Sumy with two guided aerial bombs, rockets, and other drones. Two people were wounded. Private homes, non-residential premises, vehicles, and infrastructure facilities were damaged.

In the morning, a drone attacked a market in the Bilopillia community. Ten people are reported injured, two of them in serious condition.

In Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian troops shelled Nikopol, as well as Marhanets, Pokrovsk, and Chervonohryhorivka communities. A post office, a gymnasium, and a private house were damaged. Fires broke out in the Vyshneve and Bozhedarivka communities of Kamianske district, and infrastructure was damaged.

These attacks continue a series of Russian strikes on civilian logistics and business. Previously, the logistics centers of Novus and Silpo came under fire, and a sorting depot of Ukrposhta was destroyed in Pavlohrad.
