Russia attacks Naftogaz 13 times in a week: part of production lost

Russian troops have attacked Naftogaz Group facilities 13 times over the past week in various regions of Ukraine. The strikes caused serious damage to equipment and production capacities, forcing the company to halt operations at some facilities and losing part of its production volumes.

According to the company, Russia used missiles and drones against the group's facilities. One asset was attacked several times during the week. The targets included production infrastructure, in particular.

Despite serious destruction, no employees were injured during these attacks. Naftogaz did not specify which facilities had to be stopped or how much production volumes decreased.

Number of attacks already exceeds the figure for all of 2025

Since the beginning of 2026, Russia has attacked Naftogaz Group facilities 293 times. For comparison, in the entire 2025 the company recorded 229 strikes on its infrastructure—then it was more than in the previous three years of full-scale war combined. Thus, even before the end of August, the number of attacks in 2026 has already exceeded last year's figure.

Gas production facilities remain one of the key targets. In July, Russia attacked Naftogaz facilities in Kharkiv Oblast three days in a row. Due to equipment damage, the company already reported a loss of part of production.

Russia also destroys retail fuel network

Earlier Current Ukraine wrote that in January–July 2026 alone, 37 fuel station complexes of Naftogaz Group were destroyed as a result of Russian attacks. This includes 32 UKRNAFTA stations and five facilities of Ukrgasvydobuvannya. Some stations were restored, the rest remained non-operational due to critical damage.

Russian troops launched repeated strikes on individual fuel stations even after repairs and the facilities returned to operation. In total, since the beginning of Russian aggression in 2014, the state-owned UKRNAFTA network has lost 123 fuel station complexes, 67 of which remain in temporarily occupied territories.

The latest series of strikes shows that attacks are no longer aimed only at retail fuel infrastructure but also directly at production and extraction facilities. Damage to them has a direct impact on the industry—stopping assets and reducing domestic production.
