In Kyiv, the director of a reproductive health clinic was shot over 20 times

In the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv, on the morning of September 3, an unknown man fired more than 20 shots at the 71-year-old director of the capital's reproductive health clinic. The victim was hospitalized in serious condition, the attacker fled. A special police operation is underway in the capital to search for and apprehend him.

According to the Kyiv police, the shooting occurred around 10:00 AM near the entrance to a medical facility in the Sviatoshynskyi district.

Preliminarily, the head of the clinic arrived at the medical center by car. As soon as he got out of the vehicle, an armed man who was nearby approached him and opened fire. Law enforcement counted more than 20 shots.

The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office clarified that the attacker had been waiting for the victim on the street in advance. After the shooting, he left the scene.

The 71-year-old man with gunshot wounds was taken to a hospital. His condition is assessed as serious.

To search for the armed attacker, the police launched a special operation. It involved personnel from district and capital police departments, additional task forces, patrols, and fighters from the special rapid response unit KORD.

Law enforcement reported that the victim is the 71-year-old director of the capital's reproductive health clinic. His name and the name of the medical facility have not been disclosed by the police and prosecutor's office at this time.

Investigators are establishing the motive for the attack and other circumstances of the crime. So far, law enforcement has not reported any possible connection between the shooting and the professional or business activities of the clinic's director.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 2 of Article 15 and Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - attempted premeditated murder.
