Dacia moved production of Spring electric vehicles to Europe and named the price
Dacia presented the completely new second generation of the Spring electric car. The model will cost from €17,900 in France excluding government subsidies, will have a range of up to 250 km, and, unlike its predecessor, will be produced in Europe.
This was announced by Dacia on September 8, simultaneously opening orders for the new model. The second generation Spring will be the first of four fully electric cars the brand plans to bring to market by 2030.
The base Expression trim will cost from €17,900, while the more expensive Journey will start at €19,400. Thus, the entire new Spring lineup will remain under €20,000 excluding government support.
Spring will now be produced in Europe
One of the key changes is the relocation of production. The first generation Spring was manufactured in China, while the new car will be assembled at the Renault Group plant in Novo Mesto, Slovenia.
European production will allow the model to qualify for local electric vehicle support programs. In France, for example, the Spring will be eligible for EV purchase subsidies, the amount of which depends on household income.
For Dacia, this is an important shift in competitive positioning. The previous Spring lost access to some French incentives due to production in China, whereas the new model will be able to compete not only on the car's price but also on the price after government support.
Range increased to 250 km
The new Spring is built on the Renault Group's RGEV small platform and is equipped with a 60 kW (80 hp) electric motor with 175 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 12.1 seconds, and the top speed is 130 km/h.
The car is fitted with a 27.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. The claimed range reaches 250 km on the WLTP cycle. Dacia notes that for a typical owner, this should be enough for about a week of city driving without recharging.
Electricity consumption ranges from 12.7 to 12.9 kWh per 100 km depending on trim. The base version starts at 1,212 kg, making the Spring one of the lightest electric vehicles in its class.
The car has become larger
The second generation completely changed the platform and proportions. The Spring is now 15 cm longer and 18 cm wider than its predecessor, while retaining compact dimensions for urban use.
The interior offers four full seats. Trunk volume has increased to 337 liters, and with the rear seats folded down, to 1,283 liters. As an option, Dacia will also offer a front trunk with a volume of 18 liters for charging cables and other items.
The model comes with 22 electronic driver assistance systems, while the higher Journey trim includes a multimedia system with a 10.1-inch screen, navigation, and a rearview camera.
Dacia expands its electric lineup
The first generation Spring appeared in 2021. Since then, Dacia has sold over 210,000 of these cars in more than 40 countries. The new Spring is set to open the next phase of the brand's electrification: by 2030, Dacia plans to introduce a total of four fully electric models.
Orders for the second generation Spring are now open. First deliveries to customers are expected at the end of 2026.
