It is the average rate of the 15–20 largest banks in Ukraine. Our experts revise the list once a quarter; it includes the banks with the most branches and the largest capital.

The rate is informational and meant for a quick read of the market.

What is the Commercial rate?

It is the midpoint between the average sell and buy rate of the dollar on the cash market of Ukraine. Every buy and sell offer in the Cash market section across Ukraine is taken into account. Other currencies are converted through the dollar at the quotes of the international Forex market.

It serves as an indicative rate for contracts and hryvnia settlements among small and medium businesses, and for a quick read of the cash market.

What is the Best available rate?

It is the average sell and buy rate of the dollar on the cash market of Ukraine. Every buy and sell offer in the Cash market section across Ukraine is taken into account. Other currencies are converted through the dollar at the quotes of the international Forex market.

It is used for a quick read of the cash market or as a benchmark when choosing an exchange office.

When is the NBU rate updated?

The NBU sets the rate between 15:00 and 16:00 and it takes effect the next day. At 12:00 the NBU also publishes a reference value that hints at what to expect at 15:00. On weekends and holidays the rates of the last working day apply. The NBU methodology filters out irrelevant interbank deals.

The drawback is that today's rate is set on yesterday's data, which produces large gaps when the market moves sharply. Even so, large and medium businesses often use it to fix prices in contracts.

What is the Fixing?

It is the exchange rate recorded at a set time. For the cash dollar the fixing is the midpoint between the wholesale buy and sell price of the dollar in Kyiv at 16:00. The cash fixing is used to settle agreements in cash deals.

For the non-cash dollar the fixing is the midpoint between the BID and OFFER prices on the interbank market of Ukraine at 13:00. The non-cash fixing is used in non-cash deals accordingly.

Other currencies are fixed the same way or derived from the US dollar rate against that currency on the international Forex market at the moment of fixing.

The fixing is published on our portal daily by 17:00 Kyiv time. On weekends and holidays the rates of the last working day apply.
