Police investigated over 20,000 cases of draft evasion: named the leading regions
Since the beginning of martial law, investigators from the National Police have investigated over 20,000 criminal proceedings related to draft evasion. The most such cases were registered in Dnipropetrovsk and Zakarpattia regions. This was reported by Maxim Tsutskiridze in an interview with Censor.NET.
The absolute leader in the number of such criminal proceedings was Dnipropetrovsk region - over 1.9 thousand.
In second place is Zakarpattia, where police investigated about 1.5 thousand proceedings.
More than a thousand cases were also recorded in Volyn, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions. A significant number of proceedings were investigated in Lviv, Vinnytsia, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions.
The number of cases increased significantly during the war
For comparison, in early 2024, the National Police reported about 9.4 thousand criminal proceedings regarding draft evasion. Thus, over the next two and a half years, their total number more than doubled.
Criminal proceedings on draft evasion during mobilization are opened by police, in particular, after receiving relevant information from territorial centers of recruitment and social support.
At the same time, such proceedings should be distinguished from cases involving organizing illegal border crossing of conscripts, forgery of documents, or corruption schemes in TCCs and medical institutions. These actions may be classified under other articles of the Criminal Code.
