"Kyivstar" launched a separate eSIM for roaming internet

"Kyivstar" has launched a separate eSIM for mobile internet abroad, which works in 38 countries. The service is available not only to Kyivstar customers but also to subscribers of other Ukrainian mobile operators. The cheapest package costs UAH 90 for 5 GB.

The operator called the new service "Travel SIM". This is a separate eSIM with a new number, intended solely for using mobile internet abroad.

There is no regular subscription fee: the user purchases the necessary data package independently. Packages also do not renew automatically.

How much does the internet cost

At launch, Kyivstar offers four mobile internet packages:

  • 5 GB for 4 weeks - UAH 90;
  • 10 GB for 4 weeks - UAH 135;
  • 20 GB for 4 weeks - UAH 225;
  • 40 GB for 4 weeks - UAH 400.

The package activates after payment. At the same time, the travel SIM does not support regular voice calls and SMS - it is intended exactly for data transmission.

The new eSIM can work in the phone in parallel with the main SIM card. Thus, the user can keep their usual Ukrainian number for calls and messages, and use the separate eSIM for internet while traveling.

Available not only to Kyivstar subscribers

One of the special features of the new offer is that you don't need to be a current Kyivstar subscriber to purchase it. The travel eSIM can also be installed by users of other Ukrainian operators if their smartphone supports eSIM technology.

To connect, you need to purchase a travel SIM in the operator's online store, receive a QR code and install the new profile in the smartphone settings.

Internet via this eSIM does not work in Ukraine - the service is intended solely for use abroad.

In which countries does eSIM work

The service covers 38 countries. Among them: Poland, Germany, Czechia, Romania, Hungary, France, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Turkey, USA, United Arab Emirates and South Korea.

The list also includes Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Denmark, Estonia, Ireland, Iceland, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Finland, Croatia and Sweden.

The operator notes that one eSIM is enough for traveling between all countries where the service operates, meaning there's no need to buy a new card when crossing borders.

Kyivstar claims to be the first among Ukrainian operators to launch a separate eSIM of this format for travel.
