Mass brawl involving TCC erupted in Ternopil: one person hospitalized
On the evening of August 25, a large-scale conflict occurred in Ternopil between servicemen of the territorial recruitment center and local residents. As a result of the clash, several people were injured, one participant ended up in hospital, and the service vehicle of the TCC was damaged.
The incident took place around 20:00 on Lesya Kurbasa Street. Additional police units, an investigative team, medics, and later law enforcement officers in special gear arrived at the scene.
The Ternopil regional police and the regional TCC and SP confirmed the conflict. At the same time, law enforcement officers continue to establish the sequence of events and the actions of each participant.
What happened on Kurbasa Street
According to the police, the TCC servicemen were conducting measures to identify individuals who may be evading military duty. Representatives of the recruitment center were talking to one of the men.
At that moment, other people began to gather near the service vehicle. Law enforcement officers claim that some citizens started hitting the car and entered into conflict with the TCC servicemen.
The verbal altercation escalated into a physical confrontation. The police reported that TCC officers sustained bodily injuries.
On videos posted on social media, a large crowd can be seen around the service vehicle. The car's windows were smashed and it had other visible damage. Police officers and an ambulance crew were also at the scene.
Subsequently, additional law enforcement forces were brought in to stop the conflict. The police reported that the clash was brought to an end.
One participant hospitalized
The Ternopil regional TCC and SP also reported on the consequences of the incident. According to available information, one of the participants in the conflict was taken to a medical facility after sustaining injuries.
Final data on the number of injured and the severity of their injuries is being established. The police are separately investigating the nature of bodily injuries sustained by TCC servicemen.
Law enforcement officers must also determine the amount of damage caused to the service vehicle.
Versions of events differ
Videos and witness accounts are circulating on social media and local Telegram channels, according to which the conflict was allegedly preceded by an attempt by TCC representatives to detain a man near a residential building.
In particular, some witnesses claimed that afterwards local residents blocked the service vehicle. However, the circumstances immediately preceding the fight have not yet been fully officially established.
Therefore, the statements of participants and witnesses about the causes of the conflict cannot be considered a definitive confirmed version of events at this stage.
The footage from the scene also shows that after the escalation, a significant number of people gathered near the TCC vehicle. Later, additional law enforcement units and transport for security forces personnel arrived at the scene.
Police identifying all participants
Investigators are identifying the individuals involved in the clash, analyzing video footage, and establishing the actions of each side.
Law enforcement officers are also checking the circumstances of the damage to the TCC vehicle and the infliction of bodily injuries on the conflict participants.
After completing the initial inquiry, the police must decide on registering the information in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations and determine the legal classification of the incident.
As of the evening of August 25, the police have not officially announced any suspicions against specific participants in the conflict. Law enforcement officers have also not yet released the final number of injured.
