Dollar buyers are waiting in the wings amid NBU activity: a review of the foreign exchange market

On Friday, September 4, low-activity trading is observed on the interbank currency market amid a relative balance of supply and demand. Deals in the first half of the trading session are going in the range of 44.60-44.67 UAH.

Buyers are waiting for the start of massive NBU interventions and the fact that quotes under pressure from sales will fall even lower, so they are in no hurry to buy at current prices. Yesterday and the day before, the National Bank sold 285-290 million dollars per session, as a result of which the dollar exchange rate decreased.

The euro on the interbank currency market of Ukraine on Friday is trading in the range of 51.80-51.94 UAH on the "bid" position. On the international FOREX currency market, the euro fluctuates today between 1.1618 and 1.1633 dollars waiting for the release of important US employment data, which will be announced at 15:30 Kyiv time.

Cash dollar price tags stopped rising and slightly decreased after the non-cash dollar became cheaper on the interbank yesterday. If yesterday wholesale exchange offices in Kyiv were selling the dollar at 44.86 UAH, today at lunchtime – at 44.79-44.80 UAH. In Khmelnytskyi the dollar is sold at 44.80 UAH, in Odesa – at 44.82-44.83 UAH, in Poltava – at 44.85 UAH, in Kharkiv – at 44.86 UAH.

By 13:00, Ukrainian banks are selling the dollar at prices from 44.78 UAH in some branches of Lviv Bank in western Ukraine to 45.10 UAH in Zaporizhzhia Metbank. As for the euro, currently the cheapest is available at 52.00 UAH in the Kyiv branch of Sky Bank.

Oil prices are correcting after a sharp increase in previous days. The price of the popular Brent grade dropped to $94.82 per barrel. Currently, Brent is trading in the range of $95.20-95.55 per barrel.

On crypto exchanges, prices of the main cryptocurrencies are trying to grow. Thus, bitcoin (BTC) on the most popular crypto exchange Binance yesterday rose to $82,300 per coin, and etherium (ETH) – to $2,546.66 per coin. Currently, bitcoin is being sold at $81,000-81,040 per coin, and etherium - at $2,520-2,530 per coin.
