In Odesa region, an employee of the district TCR and SS was detained after he hit a 2.5-year-old boy with his car during a mobilization notification and left the scene of the accident. The child was hospitalized, and after being in intensive care, he was transferred to a regular ward.

The accident occurred on September 3 in the village of Holma, Balta community, Podilsk district, reported the police of Odesa region.

According to preliminary data from law enforcement, the RTCR and SS employee was conducting a mobilization notification. The boy walked away from his father, with whom he was on the road, after which the driver hit the child and left the scene of the accident.

Later, law enforcement officers detained the driver in accordance with procedural rules. According to the prosecutor's office, the issue of notifying him of suspicion is being considered.

Child's father told a different version of the accident circumstances

The boy's father, Bohdan Boichenko, told "Suspilne" that before the accident there was a scuffle between him, the TCR employee, and the police officer.

According to him, he was walking along the road with his son when a car stopped nearby. The man claims that the police officer and the TCR employee began to restrain him, and during the scuffle he broke free and let go of the child's hand.

At that moment, according to the father's version, the driver of the car started moving to get closer to other employees and ran over the boy. After that, the car left the scene. Boichenko also claims that his relatives and an acquaintance caught up with the car already in Lyubashivka district.

This is the testimony of the child's father. The police have not yet confirmed the described scuffle and are establishing the full circumstances of the event.

Child transferred from intensive care

The boy's mother, Karyna Mazuryk, reported that after the accident the child was unconscious and was hospitalized in intensive care. According to her, the boy was diagnosed with a closed head injury and numerous bruises. Later, he was transferred to a regular ward.

The health department of the Odesa Regional Military Administration reported that the child was hospitalized on the evening of September 3. Doctors assessed the boy's condition as mild, and he remains in inpatient treatment with multiple superficial head injuries.

The father also told "Suspilne" that after the accident, the driver's mother allegedly offered money to the family to withdraw the complaint. Law enforcement has not yet officially confirmed this information.

Police have opened criminal proceedings under articles on violation of traffic safety rules that caused bodily harm, and leaving a person in danger. The investigation is establishing the severity of the child's injuries and all circumstances of the accident.

The Odesa Regional TCR and SS stated that they are facilitating the investigative actions. They called not to make premature conclusions until the investigation is completed and noted that the actions of all participants in the event must be given a legal assessment.
