National Bank Chairman Andrii Pishny categorically denied that he recommended Vasyl Vesely for the supervisory board of "Sense Bank" or influenced his appointment. The statement came after a parliamentary Temporary Investigative Commission meeting, during which the former supervisory board chairman of the bank, Shevki Adzhuner, gave his version of how Vesely came to the bank.

Pishny said that during the TIC meeting, assertions and interpretations were made that directly concern him and other persons. He called on the commission to urgently hold a new meeting with the participation of all those affected by the voiced statements.

"I categorically deny providing any recommendations on personnel matters to the Supervisory Board of Sense Bank", - the NBU Chairman stated.

According to him, he did not recommend appointing Vasyl Vesely as an advisor to the supervisory board, did not introduce him to board members, did not give them instructions on this or other personnel decisions, and did not exert pressure on the supervisory board management.

Pishny also confirmed that he was acquainted with Vesely. He did not hide this fact and confirmed it during the previous TIC meeting.

The NBU Chairman stressed that he is ready to personally attend the commission meeting, answer questions and provide explanations.

Adzhuner's version

Pishny's statement came after the testimony of Shevki Adzhuner, who previously headed the supervisory board of the state-owned "Sense Bank". During the TIC meeting, he said that the need for a separate person to communicate the bank with state stakeholders was discussed with representatives of the National Bank.

According to Adzhuner, he did not know Vesely before and met him after such conversations. Answering a clarifying question about who exactly from the NBU was involved in this process, Adzhuner said that, as far as he remembers, it was Pishny, although at the beginning of his testimony he made a reservation about the accuracy of his memories.

Later during the meeting, Adzhuner described events in more detail. According to him, Pishny said he would try to find a person who could meet the bank's need for communication with stakeholders. Approximately one or two days later, another meeting took place, at which Vesely was introduced to Adzhuner.

Adzhuner also stated that he received oral recommendations regarding Vesely's abilities to communicate with key state stakeholders. After that, he introduced the candidate to other supervisory board members, who already conducted interviews with him.

According to the former supervisory board chairman, the second meeting took place on the premises of the National Bank.

Thus, the versions of Adzhuner and Pishny regarding the NBU Chairman's role in Vesely's appearance at "Sense Bank" differ significantly. Adzhuner links the acquaintance with Vesely to prior conversations with Pishny and the search for a person for the bank's communication with the authorities. Pishny, however, denies that he recommended Vesely, introduced him to the supervisory board, or in any way influenced the personnel decision.
