In Zaporizhzhia, the Amstor shopping center was destroyed after repeated strikes

In Zaporizhzhia, the Amstor shopping center in the Khortytsia district was destroyed by a Russian drone attack. The fire after the strike covered over 10,000 square meters, one person was injured.

According to the SES, the strike on the shopping complex occurred on the evening of September 17. Firefighters extinguished the massive fire, but work had to be interrupted repeatedly due to the threat of repeated attacks and they had to retreat to shelters. Emergency response work has been completed.

The SES did not officially name the shopping center, but local Zaporizhzhia media reported that the strike hit the Amstor shopping center in the Khortytsia district. In footage published in the morning, a practically destroyed building and retail premises that continued to smolder can be seen.

This Amstor had already suffered a Russian strike just a week before the current attack. On September 11, a fire broke out in the shopping center after impact, covering about 500 square meters. The Ukrainian Council of Shopping Centers then reported damage to the facility.

After that attack, the JYSK chain suspended the operation of its store in Amstor for an indefinite period. Country Director JYSK Ukraine Yevhenii Ivanytsia reported significant destruction and financial losses. The company emphasized that all its employees remained unharmed.

Thus, the new strike hit a shopping center that had not yet resumed normal operation after the previous attack. This time, the scale of destruction is much larger: the fire area grew from approximately 500 square meters after the September 11 strike to over 10,000 square meters.
