As of September 1, 2026, the volume of funds of individuals and individual entrepreneurs in Ukrainian banks reached UAH 1.760 trillion. In August, the total deposits increased by UAH 9.6 billion, according to the Deposit Guarantee Fund.
At the same time, the main part of the monthly increase was provided by funds in foreign currency. Their hryvnia equivalent for August grew by UAH 6.7 billion to UAH 602.3 billion.
Deposits in the national currency increased by UAH 2.9 billion and at the beginning of September amounted to UAH 1.158 trillion. Thus, foreign currency funds accounted for almost 70% of the entire growth of the deposit base for the month, and their growth in monetary terms was more than twice as high as the hryvnia growth.
At the same time, the hryvnia remains the main currency of Ukrainians' bank savings. It accounts for about 66% of the total amount of deposits, while foreign currency accounts for about 34%.
A notable part of funds in banks is held by individual entrepreneurs. As of September 1, they had UAH 208.2 billion on their accounts and deposits, or 11.8% of the total deposits of individuals. At the same time, individual entrepreneurs make up only 3.2% of the total number of depositors.
The Fund's statistics also show that Ukrainians mostly keep money in the most liquid form. The share of demand deposits is 71.15%, while term deposits account for only 28.85%.
Among term deposits, the largest share is for short terms. Deposits up to three months form 17.14% of the total portfolio, from three to six months - 7.2%, from six months to a year - 3.83%. Deposits for more than a year account for only 0.68%.
A significant part of bank savings is concentrated in large accounts. Deposits over UAH 1 million account for almost 43% of the total funds of individuals. In particular, accounts with over UAH 5 million form 16.63% of the total deposits.
Another 25.61% of funds is held in deposits from UAH 10,000 to 200,000, 20.82% - from UAH 200,000 to 600,000, and 10.59% - from UAH 600,000 to 1 million.
The Deposit Guarantee Fund also reminded that during martial law and for three months after its termination or abolition, deposits of individuals and individual entrepreneurs in banks are covered by a 100% guarantee. After this period, the maximum guaranteed amount will be UAH 600,000.
